C. RECONVENE TO REGULAR OPEN SESSION (6:00 p.m.)

C.6. Public Comment On Non Agenda Items
SRTA members are invited to complete blue speaker cards to speak to the board for up to three minutes, as are all members of the public.  Items not on the agenda are addressed at this time. Items on the agenda are addressed during discussion of the item, using the same blue card.

Speakers are needed at the board meeting to put a face to the messages contained here, and share real experiences of the impact of district policies and practices.  Please commit to attending a board meeting, and speaking to an agenda item that impacts you or your students. Speakers are most impactful when they are well spoken, composed and reasonable.

SRTA congratulates those being recognized. Members from Monroe, Comstock and Piner are strongly encouraged to come to this meeting to honor their own.

C.7. School Site Parent Organization Updates (Monroe Elementary School, Comstock Middle School and Piner High School)

E.1. (Action) Resolution Recognizing February As National African-American History Month
SRTA joins SRCS in paying tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society. Teachers are encouraged to promote an increased knowledge and appreciation of cultural diversity among their students. This link to teacher resources is the gateway to a collaborative project of the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.
