Barbers & Backpacks 2015
SRTA is teaming up with Attrition (a veterans non-profit), Dominic's All Star Barbershop, and our community to help our underprivileged students get ready for the 2016-2017 school year.
Dominic's All Star Barbershop, Attrition (5013c Tax ID# 41-0094576) and Santa Rosa Teachers Association have a vision for our community: a free haircut and school supplies for the first day of school for underprivileged students. We know that appearance and overall readiness is a critical learning obstacle for underprivileged children.
As a born and raised Santa Rosan who grew up on the receiving end of similar programs, Dominic Ortiz can attest to the long term effects that experiences like this event can have not only a child, but on the entire family as a unit. “Barbers & Backpacks” began last year helping over 350 children. This year, we will host 500 students from various school districts in Sonoma County. Our goal is to have as many students as possible to take advantage of the connection between higher self-esteem and education. Thank you in advance for your generous help. Please feel free to forward our information. Together, we can show these kids that we care and foster a sense of hope for those that need it most. Sincerely, Dominic Ortiz All Star Barbershop, Owner Vice President of Attrition William Lyon Vice President, Santa Rosa Teachers Association |
