Barbers & Backpacks 2015

SRTA is teaming up with Attrition (a veterans non-profit), Dominic's All Star Barbershop, and our community to help our underprivileged students get ready for the 2016-2017 school year.
  • Sunday, August 14, 2016
  • Santa Rosa High School, South Gym, 1235 Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa, 95401
  • Doors open at 9:30am
  • Haircuts 10:00am-4:00pm
  • Dance Party, DJ, Raffle and Thank Yous 4-5pm
  • One Haircut and one backpack with supplies for 500 underprivileged students in the Santa Rosa area.
  • Students must be pre-registered and sign the wavier.
  • Santa Rosa City Schools students, talk to your principal if you would like to be nominated for this project.

Dominic's All Star Barbershop, Attrition (5013c Tax ID# 41-0094576) and Santa Rosa Teachers Association have a vision for our community: a free haircut and school supplies for the first day of school for underprivileged students. We know that appearance and overall readiness is a critical learning obstacle for underprivileged children.

As a born and raised Santa Rosan who grew up on the receiving end of similar programs, Dominic Ortiz can attest to the long term effects that experiences like this event can have not only a child, but on the entire family as a unit.

“Barbers & Backpacks” began last year helping over 350 children. This year, we will host 500 students from various school districts in Sonoma County.  Our goal is to have as many students as possible to take advantage of the connection between higher self-esteem and education.

Thank you in advance for your generous help. Please feel free to forward our information. Together, we can show these kids that we care and foster a sense of hope for those that need it most.
Sincerely,

Dominic Ortiz
